FAQ

Our program is truly natural and holistic in nature. We do not believe that treatment simply consists of substituting one drug for another, as many other treatment centers do. We strive not to prescribe anti-anxiety, anti-depressant or other medication as a solution order to deal with mental health issues. Due to this, we are not able to take all types of addicts and any potential clients must go through a thorough assessment either in person or over the phone prior to enrollment.

A clinical and medical assessment may include interviews, questionnaires, medical histories, psycho-social evaluations, and more. The more we know about your total state of being, the better we can work with you on a treatment plan that will best meet your needs. You will discover that the professionals at New Life Foundation Recovery truly understand addiction, drug use, and alcohol abuse, and will relate to you as openly and honestly as you allow.

Yes. We have flexible and affordable self-pay options, in addition to in-network and out-of-network insurance plans. Since everyone is unique, and all programs require a clinical assessment, you have flexibility in choosing your options, based on your own circumstances.

Every IOP treatment is tailored to the individual by a Master’s level professional clinician, who uses information gained in the introductory interview and assessment. That being the case, yes, an assessment is required for admission to the Intensive Outpatient Program.

The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed for people who are struggling with problems associated with addictions, substance use and abuse, or the co-occurring disorders associated with substance use and are still able to take independent responsibility for keeping their treatment schedule.

Eligibility for the IOP is determined by a mandatory clinical/medical assessment, which is conducted at the New Life Foundation Recovery as part of the admissions process. The Intensive Outpatient treatment program is customized for each person, guided by the initial assessment and follow up. If you would like to consider Intensive Outpatient Treatment for yourself or someone you know, call us at (302) 317-2212 to schedule an appointment, or fill out the contact form at the top right of this page so we can contact you with important information about the IOP.

Yes. Many insurance companies encourage outpatient treatment under certain circumstances, hoping to encourage a faster return to stable community living, work, school, etc.

Although insurance plans are constantly changing, we have worked with many insurance companies in Delaware including Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware, Oxford, and United Healthcare.

Call us to discuss your specific insurance. We can typically arrange a treatment plan that makes the most of your coverage, or in some cases costs even less than your co-pays and deductible.

Travel to a location far from home is sometimes desired or needed for inpatient treatment. For example, some people choose to go to Florida for inpatient rehab, living in a treatment facility for the duration of their rehab. For the typical rehab experience lasting 30 days, this can mean a significant time away from work, family, and personal obligations. Residential rehab (inpatient treatment) requires you to live in a residence, usually a shared dorm room, under the rules and governance of the operators of the facility. Each treatment center is unique and has its own set of requirements, but you generally give up control of your day to day life while in treatment.

With an outpatient program like the IOP offered by New Life Foundation Recovery, you continue to live in your own home and remain in control of your own life. You can still go to work or school, get a job and you can begin rebuilding your personal life with the help and support you receive from the program.

In outpatient treatment, you are responsible for participating in the treatment programs at the local Counseling Center, according to your treatment plan.

In the Intensive Outpatient Program, you will participate primarily in therapy in groups of 10 or fewer. You will also be assigned an individual therapist you will meet with on a weekly basis while in treatment. Groups are small to allow for a safer, more personalized environment.

Many different areas and topics are covered in the IOP. Everyone is introduced to the following while in the IOP at The NLFR: Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome (PAWS), Relapse Prevention Skills, How to Manage Urges and Cravings, Understanding the Brain Chemistry of Addiction, Progression of the Disease of Addiction, Introduction To the Twelve Steps, Spirituality, Stages of Change, Focus On Co-Occurring Disorders, and the Family Education Program.

Depending on your needs, you may be referred to additional comprehensive mental health treatment, or to training in how to increase healthy life skills, or employment counseling.

Costs vary with your status and history of use, as well as other factors. You can learn your options and the costs and fees associated with treatment options by calling our admissions counselors. We encourage you to not let money stand in the way of getting help. Talk with us – and share your individual financial situation, so we can do whatever we can to get you into treatment as soon as possible.

Intensive Outpatient Treatment (also known as IOP for “Intensive Outpatient Program”) is a primary treatment program recommended in some circumstances after a clinical and medical assessment. IOP may be recommended for those who do not need medically supervised detox. Following successful detox, IOP can enable people in recovery to continue their recovery therapies on a part-time, yet intensive schedule, designed to accommodate work and family life.

Take this opportunity to start rebuilding your personal life and mending your important family ties. You can live at home and still participate in an intensive outpatient program. With the Intensive Outpatient Treatment program, you are able to establish a foundation for long term recovery support in your local community right from the start of your treatment, instead of waiting until you return from living away in a rehab center.

You can be confident you’ll receive the right level of care because the IOP Program at The Counseling Center meets the criteria set by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Level I and ASAM Level II.1 and II.5.

The New Life Foundation Recovery is non-denominational. We are not a religious organization. We do offer Biblical Truths to those who so desires it as a pathway to their recovery / treatment, although we believe your religion and spirituality can be important components of your recovery. We believe in hope, hard work, community support, and the potential of the human spirit to overcome the problems stemming from substance use. The 12 Step approach to counseling is very effective and forms the basis of peer support that has proven to be essential for successful recovery in many cases. Most of our individualized client treatment plans include participation in 12-step meetings.

Research has shown the individuals whose families are involved in treatment have a much better prognosis and a higher success rate. New Life Foundation Recovery will make a concerted effort to include family members in treatment whenever possible.

The goal of the family education program is to provide family members with information and support that will assist our clients in their recovery. A family education group will be held every week (typically Friday’s from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, but please check the schedule). The purpose of this program is to provide family members with education, information and support to aide their family member in their recovery process. The family program will have three parts: Didactic/Education Lecture, Process Group (family members only) and Question and Answer Session.

During the intensive Phase 1 of the program, you can expect to participate 3-4 times a week. During Phase 2, the less intensive phase of the program, you can expect to participate 1-2 times a week. The goal is to gain greater independence as you move through our clinically proven phases of treatment. Please see the IOP schedule, or the specific schedules for Adult Daytime and After Work program.

Yes. For your own safety, and to protect the safety of our guests and staff, screenings are performed throughout the treatment program. Yes, when an individual present with a genuine need for treatment and upon meeting the criteria’s set by New Life Foundation Recovery for free counseling / Treatment Services, such an individual when / and if determined to have met such criteria will receive free treatment / counseling.

At the Counseling Center, we seek to always run small group meetings of 10 people or less. We find that smaller groups are more comfortable for those participating and sharing and allow for more careful review of important topics under discussion.

Our IOP usually runs for a period of 5 weeks or 6-8 weeks, but every patient is different. Every patient’s treatment program is designed just for them, so may run more or less than 5 weeks if needed.

When you first start our IOP you will have daily “work” with us so we can help you through the shakiest times of your recovery. As you become stronger and don’t need such intense professional support, you will have shorter sessions, less often. We sometimes describe this as Phase 1 and Phase 2, etc. This is sometimes called a “step down” system since you are effectively “stepping away” from our support as you become more independent. Of course, our professional staff remains available and ready to assist you at any time in your treatment.

Yes, The Counseling Center at New Life Foundation Recovery is a Faith based /Christ Centered and Evidence Based Treatment Program. Our staff is similarly diverse, with a common focus on successful treatment and supported recovery.
